THE WAIOURU ESTATE

(To the Editor.) Sir.—Ln . reading the statement that ; Mr Clayton made about . the VVaiouru Estate I am sure he doesh . t know.' anything' about the country. Why should they want to build a railway at Taupo for the convenience of Mr I'*. J. liysnar when he only has; to go over, 'to Waiouru station, only, two miles '.from his homestead, to rail his goodstaway ?; And I might mention that T classed wool . and scoured wool at station 2'J years ago,-, long before .Mr F. J. Lvs- , nar left Gisborne; Messrs Morton Eros, owned the block at that time arid' the woof was- in . very poor condition. Upe--could hardly handle it-, ’and J used-to have to cl£an out the puioice under 2»y tables every two

hours. Besides, he had to keep 2-5 rabbiters on the estate all the year round to cope with the rabbits, and in my opinion he would never clean them up. The station was only a rabbit country. It was no good for sheep oi" cattle, The wool in my time was the • worst class of stqrf that I have handled in ihe whole of my experience rind I hav'e travelled from Invercargill to Blenheim in the South Island aiicl from Wellington to Auckland 'flnd Wellington to GisbOrnO, hhd have classed wool on the leading sheds of New Zealand and J bohfeider I know Something about the backblocks of this country. I think Mr F. J: Lysriar is doing the right thing in breeding rabbits on the estate. I don’t tliink there is a harder working man in the country than the same Fred Lysnar. j. have classed wool for him also in this district. Good luck, Fred.—l am yours, et;;., G. G. BItEATNER, Wool Cbisser, Waipaou.
