A iire at 2 o'clock this morning completely destroyed c.n eight-roomed boarding-house at Waimate, owned and occupied by Air, James Anderfcon. * i A boarder awoke to find the tire tvell advanced, and .though the brigade promptly arrived the strong wind made a save impossible. The outbreak originated in a sittingroom, where a tire had been lit in the evening. A good deal of furniture was not covered by insurance. OUTBREAK IN HOTEL. (Press association.^ THAMES. Nov. 6. A lire at 1 o’clock this morning considerably damaged the Queen’s hotel, owned by Messrs Campbell and Ehrenfried, and occupied bv Mi Crank Grubb. The alarm was raised by a constable who saw smoko issuing from the rear of the building. The brigade was promptly on the scene, but the flames had obtained a good hold and caused considerable damage to the kitchen and three bedrooms. The insurance was £(360 on the furniture, and £2OOO on the building.
