“INNER WORKINGS.”

LABOR REVELATIONS - PROMISED.

MRS. YOUNG’S DISLOSURE3.

LEADERS CLASSED, AS “REDFEDS.”'

Sensational disclosures of some, of the inner workings of the Labor movement in New Zealand are expected to. be. made by . Mrs Margaret Young, wife of the former secretary of the New Z-ealdnd Seamen’s *Unipn (Mr W. T. .Young) 1 when ■ she fifes tjie first shot in her election campaign for the Wellington Central seat at the New Cbntury Hall to/jiglit. Mrs Young sprang'an eleventhhour surprise on fche electors by entering the fray as an Independent Labor candidate, but in an interview with a. Dominion representative she made it dear that she mil produce justification for her action and that the story will he told “with the gloves off.” • .•>. ' _•>" “Among my reasons for entering the contest,” Mrs! Young stated, “is a firm belief that there is a place in the New Zealand Parliament for women members. In my opinion the viewpoint of womanhood and motherhood is a desirable one to have expressed; and its expression must he of assistance in meeting the needs of the women of our country. My husband has always been a staunch supporter of Labor and he has worked like a Trojan for the movement in New Zealand since its inception. It can he claimed that Mr Young was the prime mover in tho foundation of the Labor movement in the Dominion. It naturally follows that I should carry on the good work he ha. 4 started and I am standing for Wellington Central in the. interests of Labor. Of course, I reside in the electorate for which I am standing. “The next question,” continued Mrs Young, “is as to why I am contesting the seat against tho official Labor candidate. My answer is that I have always been dissatisfied at having Messrs. Holland, Fra.ser and Semple at the head of tho Labor movement in New Zealand. I have/ always judged them to he ‘Red-Feds’ and extremists, and at my first meeting next week I think I will beetle to convince not only the electors of Wellington Central, but of the whole of New Zealand that this statement i. 3 based on absolute truth.

“Under the leadership of such men as Messrs. Holland, Fraser and Semple tht movement cannot hope to progress. _ Their presence at the top ha si held in hack in the past. The full story has yet to he told as to how Messrs Holland, F'raser, and Semple captured the positions they hold to-day. “I am heart and soul a worker for the workman and his wife.” Mrs-. Young declared. “If I am returned to Parliament my eiitire energies will be devoted to improving the lot of those who, perhaps, have not had the same chance as others have had. In regard to mv nomination. T wish to state that no one knew of ib until Monday, the day nominations closed. I am .not backed by anybody but my own resolution.”
