DEAN AND A BAR.
THE PEOPLE’S RIGHT TO HAVE ANY KIND OF DRINK.
The Dean of Windsor, Dr. A. Baillie, opened on September 19 the new refreshment room at the Royal Albert Institute, Windsor, in which both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are sold to members.
A keen controversy ranged round the question of supplying both kinds of refreshment. The dean contended that it was not a question of having a bar in which the obvious purpose was drinking, but a question whether people should be free to have any kind of refreshment they liked in moderation. He believed that free opportunity for refreshment encouraged sociability.
