NOTES AND NEWS. An opportunity of getting a line regarding the. relative merit of Australian and New Zealand two-year-olds will probably offer at Trenthum this month, as Gold Tinge has had his engagement tontinued in the Wellesley Stakes and is expected hack in time to fulfil it Prince Elizabeth, the half-sister to Royal Damon by Cynic, is one of the nicest fillies in work at Hastings, and is just beginning to shape up, and in a recent sprint demonstrated that she knows how to gallop. Mr. E. M. Langley holds her on lease and has decided to give his filly her first run at the Waipawa meeting on the Hastings racecourse on Labor Day. Merry Mint-, who has now been in work for over a month, is standing up to his work well and giving no indication of ever having heen troubled with bis hock. No definite programme lias been mapped out, but as he is not being bustled ’Xmas time will about see him under silk again, and then if all goes well in the autumn another pilgrimage to Australia will be made.

It is not often that the winners of both “legs” of an important double arc ridden by the same jockey. This, however, was the good luck of the Victorian rider, J. Munro, who was on Amcunis in the Epsom Handicap and. owing to MtCarten’s disqualification, was also on Jocelyn m the Metropolitan. Munro has had a great innings, as he was also on Prince Humphrey in the Derby and on Gold Tinge in the Breeders’ Plate. He should have a nice little bit to put “under the clock” when the meeting closes. j
