“INJURES HEALTH OF FARMERS’ WIVES AND DAUGHTERS” A PETITION OF PROTEST (Special to the Times.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 10. Within a few days the Nbw Zealand Farmers’ Union intends commening to arrange for the circularisation of a petition against the re introduction of the Summertime Bill A beginning will be made with the farming communities and, after that, it is possible that the petition will be sent to the urban areas. This action is the outcome of a decision by the Dominion executive of the Union whih hacs now been endorsed' by resolutions from associated bodies, and thei petition will condemn the system of daylight saving as injurious to the health of the women and children of farmers, who are stated to be suffering hardship. The Masterton Dairy Fatcory is the latest body to sympathise with the Farmers’ Union and, in a letter just received by the general secretary, the Masterton factory expresses the view that the Summertime Bill is opposed to the farmers’ interests and should be scrapped.
