FIRES.
BIG BLAZE IN CAPETOWN. (Received February 12, 5.6 p.m.) (Aust. and N.Z. Press Assn.) CAPETOWN, Feb. 11. A disastrous fire, involving half a million pounds,, destroyed the greater part of the Imperial cold storage premises on, tho sea-front. Butter, margarine and bacon fed the flames. The firemen battled with the ammonia fumes. Fortunately the ammonia was disconnected! in the early stages and spare tubes removed. Adjoining new buildings were unaffected.
