AUCKLAND CITY RESERVOIRS HALF EMPTY

The city reservoirs are now half empty, recent showers not having affected the positiort. In all about two months’ supply remains in the dams, and the authorities are. anxiously awaiting rain. For a hundred i lavs there has not been sufficient rain in the hills one day to meet • he day’s demand. The average holding in the dams is usually about 000,000 gallons but this has now been reduced to some 475,000.000 gallons and the city is using some 9,250.000 gallons daily. Of this about 2-250,000 gallons are drawn ' from running streams* and 1.175.000 gallons from western springs ’(situated :ii the city), the remainder coming from dams.
