Wellington to-day retained the Wilding tennis shield hv defeating the Auckland team ,on the Association grounds' at Miramar.'winning all their matches, besides having two matches in hand from the previous clay’s play. , Rain overnight did not interfere much with the courts, but the wind had turned froin north _ to south. Wellington won hv eight matches to. two.
