RABBIT SHOOTING FATALITY

- MARTON, Dec. 13. .A fatal -shooting accident occurred on Sunday afternoon on Mr Cornfoot’s farm, • Kauhatau. John ,- S. Kerr, 23, a recent arrival from Scotland, went out to shoot rabbits, it is -presumed that he stumbled over a log and the gun exploded, practically blowing off Kerr’s left arm. Kerr had a painful struggle back to the farmhouse, and telephoned a neighbor,. who immediately went to tnt farm and assisted Kerr, who, when admitted to the Hunterville Hospital, was dead. Kerr, who was very weak from loss of,blood 1 when the neighbor arrived, said the accident happened as he was getting through a fence, but the gun was'found two chains from, "the fence.It is presumed that deceased’s last recollection was his -climbing the y fence. ’ ' ’ At the inquest, a verdict was returned that death was due to shock ; and haemorrhage, as the result of gunshot wounds accidentally sellMnllicted.
