LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL FIRST AND SECOND READINGS WELLINGTON, Oct. 20. The Legislative Council men at--2.80 to-day. The Police Offences Bill was introduced, read a first time and a second time pro forma, and referred to the Statutes Revision .Committee. The Bankruptcy Amendment Bib, Magistrates Courts Amendment Bill. Apprentices Amendment- Bill, Public Service Superannuation Bill, and Inspection of Machinery Amendment Bill,, were received from the House, read, a first time and a second time pro forma, and referred to the standing committees. The Orchard Tax Bill was read a second time, put through its final stages without- amendment, and passed. The Council adjourned at 3.8 until to-morrow.—-P.A.
