BUILDING MISHAP AT OPOTIKI
(Special to the Times.) , OPOTIKI, April 5. Arthur Cooper, bricklayer, aged 23, working for Boon and Sullivan oil building the Union Bank of Australia, fell twelve' feet from a scaffold today, sustaining severe bruises. TRAIN SMASHES LORRY. HINDU FRUITERER’S ESCAPE. HAMILTON, April 5. Ran Chanel, a Hindu fruiterer, had a narrow escape from, death this afternoon, when the Rotorua express struck Iris lorry a glancing blow, hurling it on the cattle stop at Horotiu. The driver escaped unhurt, but the lorry was badly smashed.—P.A.
