Balgetv and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their, head office, London, dated October 13:—“Butter: Finest N.Z. butter 140 s per cwt, nominal quotation. There is more demand for unsalted butter than salted butter. The position of the butter market continues dangerous in view of large stocks and holders pressing sales.” MANAWATU JERSEY SHOW AND SALES. PALMERSTON N., Oct. IP The fourth Manawatu Jersey Show and sale was held to-day, 77 animals, from the Manawatu and Horowhenua Jersey Clubs coming forward. Bulls showing quality were in good demand, but poorer animals were neglected. There was a keen demand for heifers. R. Li. Horn, Levin, had an entry ot 16 animals, which averaged £bß apiece. The top price for the \gale was obtained for the heifer' Kuku Countess, lCOgns., which was bought by Wright, Stephenson and Co., for export. A heifer by the same breeder, Ivuku Nella, realised 97gns., and was purchased by A. J. Smith (Otorohanga) and the bull Kuku Bright Owl was bought by A. Mitchell (Longlmrn) fot lOOgns. J. Smith, jump, obtained the top price for a bull, bo7gns., which was bought by Wright Stephenson and Co.—P.A.
