ON MAIN SOUTH ROAD. SERIOUS COMPLAINTS IN COOK COUNTY. WORKMEN’S LIVES ENDANGERED, A considerable amount of inconveiP ience is being caused during the progress of tar sealing the Main South Road from the Borough boundary to Matawhero saleyards by the fast-mov-ing motor traffic,” stated the Cook County Engineer (Mr. J. J. A watch will be kept on all traffic during the next few days and action will be taken against all persons caught oVcr-specding or failing to slow down when required to do so.” The Engineer (Mr Keane) said that only the other day a.car travelling at over 40 miles an hour passed down the road where the work was being carried out and nearly knocked several men over. Cr. Witters said that a case had come under his notice recently where a fast-travelling car had caught one of the men working on that stretch on the leg with the mudguard. It was decided that notice boards bo erected at each end of the work ancl that action be taken against motorists hindering the prosecution of tile contract.
