Feeliug reference to the absence, through sickness, of Mr R. MncDiur Birrell was made by the Chairman. Mr J. R. Kirk, at the Burns dinner in the City Hall last evening. Mr M . D. also refcri-ed to h.s absence and expressed the hope tl.et Mr Birrell would be enabled to be with them all again next year. It was decided that a telegram be rent to Sir Bin-ell in Auckland expressing - the hope for his speedy recovery. The resignation of Dr. J. C. Collins, from his position as one- of the borough’s representatives on the Harbor Board was received by the Board at the meeting last evening.—The. Chairman proposed that a notification bo sent to the Borouglf Council that Dr. Collins had resigned and also to Dr. Collins thanking him for his services on the Board. The Act stipulated that the resignation took effect from the time it was handed in and the local body he represented had to be notified.—The Board agreed to this course.
