ITALY RATIFIES LOCARNO TREATY.
ROME, Jan. 23. The Locarno Treaty was ratified by the Chamber, only two Communists voting against it.
A CORONER’S MISTAKE (Received Jan. 24, 11 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 23
When the body of Florence Parish, who- died of poison, was being viewed at the Inqest at. Peterborough, the coroner thought he detected the flicker of the eyelids and delayed the inquiry until the arrival of a doctor, who assured the Court that death had occurred twelve hours previously. A verdict was returned of suicide whilst of unsound mind.
BRAVE COOK LOSES LIFE LONDON, Jan. 24. The home of Madame Sarah Grand, the famous novelist, near Bath, was burned down. Her cook, Florence Asplan, afied 62, lost her life in saving the other servants.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
ITALY’S DEBT TO BRITAIN

The Sunday Express’ diplomatic correspondent says that Mr Churchill has given Volpi until Monday to accept tie British offer of -sixty-two annuities of £45,000,000. Pie warned Volpi that this was the final offer. The Express is of opinion it is amazing that Volpi has shown hesitation in clinching.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
