COSTELLO BREAKS RIGHT HAND.
The Taneatn.a B.A. bold a tourney on New Year’s night, drawing competitors from Napier. Gisborne. Wailii and Rotorua. The attendance was fair hut disappointing. Pug Markie (Gisborne) lost to the speedv W. College (Wailii) on points over five rounds.
Alf Seastrand (Napier) lost to N. Broadfoot (Wailii) over four rounds. AV. Pitcher (Gisborne) lost to J. Broadfoot (AA’aihi) retiring after four rounds of heavy slogging in the course of which both were severely marked. AV. Costello (Matawai) broke his right hand in the first round against J. Chadwick (AYhakatane) and gave up. Other winners were McTavisli (AATrakatane), against Savage (MVitata) : C. Broadfoot (AVaibi) against Dodson (Rotorua).

EXTRAORDINARY DECISION

At the Stadium, Fernandez fought a twenty rounds draw with Billy Grime. It was a most extraordinary decision, the general opinion being that Fernandez did not win one round. He was outgeneralled and outpunched from the start.
