MELBOURNE. July 31. It is learned that a deadlock has arisen in the del.beration of the sul>committee considering the slipping strike, over the demand of the owners that the roster system be altered and men picked up at the ship’s side without dotation from the union.

The industrial delegates contend that the abolition of the roster would permit discrimination and victimisation.

Both sides are adamant, and the prospect of a compromise is not hopeful.
