MASTE.RTON, June 3. „

The Coroner opened an inquest at Featherston on the poorly-nourished body of a man about thirty years of age, who was found in a sitting posture near the railway line on the liimutaka incline on Monday morning. A surfaceman met him on Friday walking along the line half a mile from the spot. He said he was going through the tunnel. Broken fern at two spots not far from where tne body was found, with cigarette papers a hook and a tweed cap indicated that he had been resting and apparently fell from one spot down a fourteen foot bank to the railway .line, there being three deep wounds impossible to have been self-inflicted on the back of the neck. A war pension certificate 1464 and the name “Ernest E. Richmond” is believed to indicate identity. The inquest was adjourned.—P.A.
