GISBORNE’S BEAUTY CONTEST
DIG .SUCCESS AT EVERYBODY’S. When the hiograph beauty competition was first decided on the promoters were confident o-f success, and these expectations were fully realised when the first screening at Everybody’s took place last evening. Long before commencing time the stalls seating capacity was filled, and many had perforce to stand whilst the dress circle also quickly filled. The crowd was handled with promptitude and nobody was kept waiting longer than was necessary. The issue of the voting papers naturally caused a block during the heavy rush but the difficulty was' expeditiously disposed of. The screening of the competitors was attended with the utmost interest, which was maintained to the end. Ten candidates for the honors were screened and they will re-appear nightly up to and including next Tuesday, when another group will lie introductcl. Fifty competitors have entered. Voters are reminded that they can vote for whom they like and when they like. There is no need to Hold their papers back, for if they desire to vote for any particular candidate, whether her picture has been screened or not, they can do so, but they should make sure that they are in possession of the correct number of identification. Votes for the present group now •creeiiing must be placed in the ballot box he fore Wednesday next. Tickets should be marked plainly with a large figure at tho bottom. Ail are requested not to fold tho tickets. The ballot box will be available all day long at the theatre. Day sales and reserved seats at Miller’s Corner.
