GIL WELL DISASTER.
THIRTEEN MEN BURNED TO DEATH. (Received Mnv 10. 9-45 p.mA NEW YORK. May 10. At Karens, Texas, thirteen men were burned to death by an explosion at a newly-sunk oil well which a worker attempted to close when oil began to gush. The fraction ignited the gas aiid oil. resulting in a vast pillar of flame one hundred feet high. Attempts to extinguish the_ flames were unsuccessful.—A. and N.Z.C.A.
