BRITAIN'S DRINK BILL.
REDUCTION IN 1922.
LONDON. April 15
The United Kingdom Alliance reports that the nation’s drink bill in 1929 totalled £345,000,000, compared with £402,750,000 in 1921, working out at £lO as compared with £l2 per adult. The decline is attributable to unemployment, reduced wages,' and the high price of drinks. During January and February 228,685 proof gallons of spirits were sent to the West Indies for smuggling to the United States, compared with SO,OOO in the same months of/1922. A. and N.Z.C.A.
