WELLINGTON, Feb. 22. John Arbuckle was again before the Court to-day, charged with the theft of union funds. Counsel for the Miners’ Federation asked for a further remand until March 1. He stated that the amount of the total charges would be considerably reduced from that) mentioned previously, and counsel for the defence asked for reduced bail. Arbuckle, from the box: “The position is this: I can get £SOO and no more. I could report to the police once or twice a day. The circumstances of my going to Australia can he explained later. I was not trying to run away from anything.” The Magistrate fixed hail at £750, with two sureties of £375, accused to report to the police once a day.— P.A.
