MOPLAH REBELS STILL SURRENDERING. GANDHI OPPOSES VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN. SEDITIOUS* CONGRESS .AT AJMALHAN. (United Press Association—Copyright.) DELHI, Dec. 28. In recent encounters 'in various districts troops killed 45 Moplah rebels and captured a considerable number. The rebels continue to surrender freely with fighting material. —A. and N.Z.C.A. . Committees of the Khalifat Conference and National Congress sitting simultaneously at Alimedabad, defeated amendments in favor of altering tho creeds of the Conference and Congress by dropping out a violence policy and aiming at independence outside the British Empire. Gandhi opposed the amendments and uttered a warning against alienating the moderates. Gandhi’s resolution in 'favor of continuance of the non-violence creed was overwhelmingly adopted. Five thousand people attended the national congress at Ajmalhan. The acting-President in place of Das, who is undergoing a term of imprisonment, welcomed the actioin of the Government in attempting to repress the movement as| .strengthening the people’s determination to continue the struggle vigorously. He was gratified that Egypt was following India’s example _of nonviolence and non-co-operation. He declared that India was experiencing the birth-pangs of Young India, which would revive the glorious traditions of the ancient country.
