STRIKE AT WAIROA

TROUBLE IN FREEZING WORKS.

DEMAND FOR WAITING TIME REFUSED. .

WAIROA, December 29. A strike occurred at the local freezing works to-day. The men held a stop work meeting over certain matters, and delegates were appointed to meet the manager. The various matters were discussed and occupied a considerable portion of tlie morning, and after some had been adjusted satisfactorily the men demanded waiting time. This the company would not concede, and the men decided to leave the Vorks. Sheep waiting to be killed were put out on feed. It is difficult to say hew long the trouble will last. —P. -
