HOME DESTROYED AT AUCKLAND.
AUCKLAND, Oct. V
The wife Of J. Lane, a railway contractor, during her husband’s absence from homo at Huarua, discovered the house - afire on Wednesday night. Owing to a heavy storm help was unavailable. Mrs Lane rescued the eight children and saved a few household effects. Neighbours are giving temporary accommodation to the family.—P.A.
