HOSPITAL BOARD.
SPECIAL MEETING YESTERDAY
NEW MATRON’S RESIGNATION ACCEPTED. A special meeting of the Cook Hospital Board was held yesterday for the purpose of considering the resignation of the matron, Miss Mason, who, after a considerable amount of discussion, was appointed to that position at the last meeting of the Board. Tliero were present the chairman, Mr Ha Kemvay, and members H. H. DeCosta, D. W. Coleman, C. H. Bridge, R. Johnston, J. Barns-Graham, H. H, Shanks, and C. Gibson.
In referring to the object of the meeting, the chairman stated that Miss Mason had handed in her resignation, as, for certain reasons, she was unable to take the position. She was, however, prepared to carry on until another appointment was made, but desired, if possible, to be relieved before tlie end of next month He considered that, if the matter was hurried on a little, another matron could he obtained before then. At this stage, the meeting went into committee, and the press representatives were asked to leave the room.
Subsequently, the chairman announced that it had been decided to advertise for a matron in the four centres of the Dominion, and in the local papers. Applications, accompanied by references, would require to be in the hands of the secretary by August 24.
