CRUSHED BY TREE
CHRISTCHURCH. July 28. Frederick Bayliss, laborer,, married, aged 40, died to-day from injuries received by being crushed by a . falling tree at Taitapu yesterday. FATAL FALL FROM WAGGON. BLENHEIM. July 28. Samuel Payton, 51, widower, with five children, waggoner, was thrown from bis seat to the road. .He received injuries, resulting in his death in the hospital. His brakes failed to hold when descending ,a hill, and the vehicle ran away.—P.A. WIDOW SUICIDES. AUCKLAND, July 28. A widow, Edith Lucy (61), of Devonport, was found dead *at her residence this- evening. When a daughter returned, the house was locked and the mother was lying on the kitchen floor. The room'was full of gas. One pipe was turned on with a tube attached, the end of which was near deceased’s mouth.—P.A. .
