| WELLINGTON, Dec. 20. | The first wool sale held in Wellington since the end of 1915 was held to-day. There was a full bench of buyers. The Dominion buying interests, including mills and fellmongers, were well represented. As the sale progressed it was evident that buyers only really wanted finer wools. The prices offered for j some of the coarser sorts were so low j that the wool was passed in. In other [ cases there were no bids at all. The ' following was the range of prices:— I Southdown llid to 13d. ! Halfbred super 12d to 13{d. Halfbred medium 9d to 11-Jd. j Halfbred inferior 7d to Sid. ■ Crossbred super lOd to lid. ! WELLINGTON WOOL SALE. The Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat and Mercantile Co. Ltd., have received to-day the following telegram from their Wellington agents:—"‘The first wool sale to be held m the North Island-since the Government commandeer, took place in Wellington to-day. The event lias been eagerly looked forward to for a reliable indication of buyers limits for crossbred wools. The sale passed off' quietly, competition not being keen. Only good 46’s were in good demand for. America. Prices realised were as follows: —Fine crossbred Sd to lid per lb; medium crossbred 51 d to 71-d per lb; coarse ' crossbred 3kl to sd~ per lb; crutchings 2d to 4d per lb. The next sale is scheduled for Napier on January 3, 1921/’

Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd. are in receipt of the following advice from their special representative at the Wellington wool sale yesterday, "Good attendance of buyers, but bids very irregular. Coarse and shabby neglected. Wools mostly selected for the small American orders. About 25 to 30 epr cent of catalogue sokt. Following are the range of prices: 50 to 56’s, 12d to 13d; 48 to 50’s, lOd to ll$d; 4G to 4S’s 9kl to lid; 44 to 4G’s. 7d to 9d; 40 to 44’s, 3kl to sd; 3G to 40’s, 3d to 4d; pieces' 4d to Gkl; bellies 31 d to s^d; locks, lid to 2d.
