There has been a remarkable expansion in the flotation of companies in the Commonwealth during the past halfyear. It is estimated that 800 concerns were floated, with a capital of £35,000,000 chiefly to carry on general trading and manufacturing and developing mineral resources. J. Kirkwood won the open golf championship of Australasia, beating D. Sou tar by 5.
