INCREASE OF £6019

DEBIT BALANCE OF £874

The Harbor Board revenue for the year 1919-20 was shown as follows in "the annual review of. the chairman (Mr F. J. Lysnar), submitted to the meeting of tbe Board yesterday: — The- collections for 1919 under the main headings of variable revenue, i.e., wharfages and dues on vessels show an increase of £6019 over the figures for the previous year. This increase was obtained principally in outward wharfage, the increase on inward wharfage being only £7S3, while the outward increased by £4,739, the latter no doubt being occasioned by the shipment of produce delayed from the previous year. The following are the principal collections of variable revenue only for the years 1914, 1918, and 1919 (rents are excluded, being fixed at about £B.7so)—Wharfages—•Inward:: £l2, 668, £9,141, £9,925: outward: £6336, £3,897. £8,637; dues on vessels: £5,517; £2.402. £2,897; totals: £24, 521, £15,440, £21,459. The revenue from all sources amounted to £29,559, but it should be noted that rents amounting to £2OOO rightly belonging to the credit of the year 1919, appear in the General Account of 1918, being amounts received in December of that year and which are not usually received until after the end of the year. The true revenue of the year 1919 was therefore £31,535} 10s sd. General Account:—The year 1919 was commenced with a debit balance of £1225. The expenditure (including £114)00 interest arid, sinking fund, also £7,015 transferred temporarily to Loan Expenditure Account amounted to £29,238. __ Tlu\ total amount of revenue collected was £29,589, and the year closed with a debit balance of £874.

Loan funds.—At the beginning of last year there was £16,215 14s 5d of the loan funds remaining in the hands of the Public Trustee, 'flic earnings of this sum during the year amounted to £416 9s 10c]. £5650 15s 7d was withdrawn during tbe year, leaving a balance of £10,981* 8s 8d in the Public Trustee’s hands at the end of the year.
