COMMITTEE SET UP IN GISBORNE
Yesterday morning Misses Catkin and Girdler, envoys from the Imperial Government for the Overseas ment Mission, were met by a °frhe and £S,e W r ASI. “ eS Wi& T H. E. Kent, G. C. M. Pasco, A. Pall ocic, Archdeacon Williams and the Rev. Ward. Apologies were received from Sir James Carroll, Mr W. D. Lysnar, A. C. Steele, and W. H. Irvine. . „ Th<=s ladies explained the object Oj. which was to report upon the possibilities for settlement in New Zealand of women of the British auxiliary war forces. They said that the women would probably arrive m New Zealand about May or June. On the motion of Archdeacon Williams a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the ladies for the interesting information they had given, while Mr J. C. Field made appreciative reference to the women workers who had been of such assistance during the war. It was decided, on the motion of Mr C. H. Bridge, that all present be a committee to go into the matter of providing the information required, with the assistance of women’s organisations. It was also decided to circularise farmers of the district. A vote of thanks was passed to the Mayor for presiding.
