GISBOBNE OPEEPS £SOO POP FIGHT. j At a meeting of the Gisborne Boxing Association on Monday evening, the proposed contest between Jack Heeney (New Zealand middle-weight, champion) and Tommy Uren (middle-weight champion of Australia) was discussed at length. . . | Several members were of opinion that it would be a bigger draw if a match’ | could be arranged between the well- ■; known Australians, .Timmy Clubby and j Uren. ' Finally it was decided that every en- j deavor should be made to arrange such j a contest, and the secretary was in- ' structed to send the following telegram to the Hawke’s Bay and tho Wellington Boxing Associations: — “We cannot proceed with the Uren- ' Heeney contest, but offer a £SOO purse, including expenses, for the first fight between Uren and Olabby, they to suggest date in January next.” If the above match should eventuate it will be the biggest fight staged in the Dominion, and lovers of boxing from many parts of the Dominion will bo present.
