BOXING.
TJREN V. HEENEY
What is probably the most important engagement ever entered, into by the Wellington Boxing Association is that for the visit of ’‘Tommy’ Dren (the Australian champion) to meet Heeney (of Gisborne) on Thursday next. TTren comes across with practically an unbroken record in his more recent contests, he having defeated such well known exponents as Fred Kay, Harry Stone, Fritz Holland, Jimmy Clabby, Quandreaux, Eddie MeGoorty and others. His training work has been, watched by many enthusiasts each afternoon, and his speed and cleverness is a revelation. As an exponent of skipping for training purposes TJren is excellent. Bespitehis defeat by the clever American, Heeney is still popular with local enthusiasts.
