INTERESTING RECOMMENDATIONS.

The Inter-State Labor Conference adopted a series of recommendations with the object of democratising the defence system and safeguarding civil rights and industrial organisation. ~ These include no .military training or call-up in war time of persons under voting age limits, limita-. tion of professional militarism to instructional and administrative staffs, abolition of military oath-, and distinctions between non-com and commissioned officers, ment of soldiers in industrial disputes, no forces to be raised for service outside the Commonwealth except by decision of the people by initiative and S referendum; that conscientious objectors be freed from any combatant training or service.
