FLOODS AT CORE.

SEVERAL HOUSES AFFECTED. (Press Association Telegram.) GORE, June2o. As an outcome of the recent heavy rains up country the Mataura river commenced to fill steadily and-, slowly yesterday morning. It reached its height about 5a m. to-day. The flood water got' into the town through a railway culvert on the Waimea branch line. A score Or more houses were affected np to a depth of one foot on the floors. The river is now falling. It N expected that the water that came through the culvert will be drained off to-morrow morning. Mr Bates, the State meteorologist, is in Gore at present. He will make arrangements for a flood report by stations up country.
