* Under the heading of Sporting Notes from the N.Z.F.A., the' New. Zealand soldiers’ paper, Chronicles of the N.Z.E.F. (edited by Mr Clutha Mackenzie), has a few interesting details of a boxing tournament in which Jack Heeney, a brother of the well-known boxing family) took part in England recently. The tournament took place at the Royal Flying Corps aerodrome, at Hornslow. in February of this year. One of the events was between Gunner J. Heeney (N.Z.E.F.), and Roy McCormick (sth Dragoon Guards), the Aldershot Command middleweight champion. After a great six-round fight Heeney lost by a narrow margin of points. Mr Eugene Corre, the famous English boxing referee, who was present, said that Heeney had the makings of a real champion, and was unfortunate in not winding his event.
