Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. PETROGRAD, Nov. 5. Advices from the northern front are more favorable! The army committees are working energetically to discipline. GeneraU Verkhousky, War Minister, has gone to the Caucasus, and is likely to resign. , Certain newspapers accuse him of favoring a separate peace. Verkhousky 'strenuously denies the accusation and threatens legal action. A Russian official message states: There was violent enemy artillerying westward of Sventen Lake: 'We attacked the Turks in Falkit sector, of the Black Sea region, capturing first line trenches; in some places the third line, also great booty.'

The Times. (Received Nov. 6. 8.10 p.m.) •" . . PETROGRAD, Nov. 5. The city is subject to daily alarms, expecting a Maximalist rising and massacres.
Tlie dregs of the race seem to’ he gathering in .the city for the expected loot.
Delegated representing the peace party, after hearing a speech by M. Trotzky, the Maximalist leader, _ voted for a proposal that the Maximalists should demand the seizure of power.
It is believed that a majority of the army will support the Government, which has exchanged telegrams with the Army commanders. ; General Toumanoff lias taken over the Ministry for War in place of M. Verkhousky.
