In the House of Lords, Lord Onvzon, replying to criticisms of the multiplication of office buildings for officials, pleaded the immensity of the war needs. He exam pled the Ministry for A 1 unilions. At the beginning of the war a million was spent on army munitions, but in the present financial year £500.000,KV was being spent. The number of controlled establishments under the Ministry for Munitions was 4651. and they employed nearly two million hands.
