Arrangements have been made by the Defence Department to exempt from attendance at the annual camps territorials engaged, on war work ot an urgent nature. A distnct ordex states f—Leave from camp maybe granted to territorials who arc employed on contracts and are working at high pressure to meet the military exigencies which have arisen. These men should be granted leave from the annual and casual camps. Those who desire leave must make application as soon as they receive notice to attend camp, so that the Department may go into the ease sufficiently to decide whether (1) The men are engaged on equipment urgently required toi the use of the Expeditionary Force; (/), that the work, they are so engaged on will not become less consequential be; fore the completion of the casual camps. An appellant, aged 28, in giving evidence at tee Military Appeal Court at Hawera said That he bad never travelled any farther than Hawera on the one side and Wanganui on the ether. He was'doubtful whether he would like to take a trip to France.
