Donald Murray Matheson, chief clerk' on the Nelson railway, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day avith stealing £628 between September, 1916, and February, 1917, the propertv of the Neav Zealand Government. He avas remanded till Wednesday. „ , CHRISTCHURCH. Feb. 15. AVilliam Henrv Allen was charged at the Supreme Court, avith intent to do grievous bodily harm. The jury, avithout retiring, returned a verdict of not guilty on the ground that accused avas insane when he committed the offence. Judge Denniston ordered Allen to Sunnyside Mental Hospital at the pleasure of the Minister for Justice. _ , , _ DUNEDIN, Feb. 15. Neil McCulloch (64 years), residing at Ravensborough, met avith a fatal accident yesterday while cycling as a result of ci collision with sl motoi cycle. Death avas due to a fractured skull. .
