The Government scheme for taking control of the coal mines has matured. It is similar to that adopted in connection with the railways. The Collier Owners are being guaranteed pre war dividends. In .addition to controlling prodiietiort\und distribution, tbe Government will endeavour to regulate prices and ensure the most economical handling. Mr Guy Calthorpe, manager of the London and Northwestern railway, has been appointed State Controller of Coal Mines. FURTHER PARTICULARS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn. (Router’s Telegram.)
