(Press Association Telegram) DUNEDIN. Feb. lb At the Supreme Court, Jane Hughes and Ethel Edie pleaded guilty to procuring abortion and to using an illegal instrument for the purpose. Each accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment oh each charge, the sentences to be concurrent.

Thomas Tait Hampden was convicted of forgery by signing the name “A. Parkes,” to a letter sent by him to the editor of the Daily Times, but the jury recommended leniency. Accused was ordered to pay expenses (£9).

John Blake (76 years), and John Kean pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to supply a noxious thing, to Ruby Blake. Both were ordered to come up for sentence when called on. and each was ordered to pay £8 7s.

Robert McLeod for indecently assaulting two little gir's was sentenced, to two years’ on each charge, th<> Sentences to he cumulative, and t,c commence at the end of a sentence of 21 months he is now serving for issuing valueless cheques. Jean Tobin, for theft of £5 from, a person, was admitted to probation for three years; and ordered to pay £9 10s towards the cost of the proper cution.
