Mr Bryan (Secretary of State) Ims ordered an investigation of the Texas Rangers’ entering Mexico, pointing out that it constituted an act of war. The Governor denies that the ft angers participated in the matter, which is wrapped in mystery. ■Senator Falls, in the Senate, pleaded that intervention in Mexico was necessary to prevent inevitable war. He said other countries were not likely to be so complaisant as Britain in the Benton c-ase. 'Hie Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee declared that those responsible for the foreign }>olicy were doing everything possible to secure a solution without involving war.
