ACETYLENE GAS EXPLOSION.
DISTRESSING CHRISTCHURCH FATALITY. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM-1 CHRISTCHURCH, March 10. At the inquest oil the body of Albert Victor Davies, who died as the result of the explosion of an acetylene gas plant, deceased’s father stated that he knew his son was making an acetylene plant and warned him that it was dangerous. Deceased said he had seen several plants made at. Ids work and lie thought lie could make one. About 5.30 p.m. deceased’s mother went to call him from bis workshop for tea. Just as she went to the door there wqs an explosion. She called out to know what was the matter and, receiving no answer, went into fee workshop. She ended out “Willie’s blown his head off.” Witness went in and found deceased Ivina on Ids hi k with tic pipe of the generator embedded in ''s forehead. The force of the explos" .i had driven the pipe, with the tip attcc'“.d, right through the head to tin back of the skull. A verdict was return: ' Cat deceased was accidentally killed bv the exploding of an acetylene gas plant.
