The visiting delegates attending the VY.C.T.L'. Convention ivc-re entertained at a garden party at Mrs V, . Cooper’s at. Wainui yesterday afternoon. A pleasant time was spent wandering over the beautiful grounds, and the delegates were most hospitably entertained by Mrs Cooper. The death occurred yesterday in New Plymouth of Mr F. A. Bremer, the well-known Clydesdale horse, Lincoln sheep and Ayrshire cattle breeder of Okarawa, aged 66 years. He had been ill for some time. He leaves a widow and family of five.—P.A. Messrs Lalgety and Co., Ltd., have been advised by cable from Melbourne that Mr Wilila’m Oswald Gilchrist has resigned his seat on the Board of Directors, and Mr Thomas Benjamin Fisher has been elected in his stead, as lie lias retired from the position of secretary to the Company. Mr Henry Ernest Davison has been appointed Secretary to the Company. The householders of Makaraka school district have just paid a handsome tribute to Mr Marshall, headmaster of the School for the past 21 years. Mr Marshall, it will be remembered, was recently appointed to a position in the Hastings school, and had to take a hurried departure in order to take up his new position. The householders, to mark their appreciation of Mr Marshall’s long and faithful service to the school, have forwarded to him a handsome gilt timepiece. suitably inscribed, with a valuable silver toilet set for Mrs Marshall.
