MR. W. D. S. MACDONALD ILL.

A SUDDEN SEIZURE

[FROM ors OWN COEHESPOXDEXTI TE ARAROA. Alarch V

Air AV. D. S. AlacDonald. ALP. for the Bay of Plenty, who was to have addressed a public meeting here tonight. was taken seriously ill at Te Ivaha on Saturday. The member for the Bay of Plenty was proceeding overland from Opotiki to the East Coast, and addressed a meeting at Te Kalia on Friday night. He had not been feeling well for some time, and the strenuous travelling lie had been doing had undermined his strength. Air AlacDonald had an attack of hemorrhage on Saturday morning at Te Kaha. and the services of District Nurse Wingfield were requisitioned from Te Araroa. The Nurse proceedto Te Kalin by launch on Sunday, and lias been with Air AlacDonald since. To-day advic-p was received that his condition had greatly improved, and it is probable that he will be brought to Te Araroa bv launch. leaving his horses at Te Kaha. Aluch sympathy is-expret-sod for Air AlacDonald here. When one considers the strenuous time Air AlacDonald has h ceil putting in since the New A’ear the wonder ;s not that he has temporarily broken down, but that he fins not suffered ill effects sooner. He lias lately been travelling at express speed all over his wide electorate. Two trips have been made to Opotiki'since the beginning of the year. In January he was summoned from Gisborne to attend the Liberal rally at To Aroha, and from there he went on to AYollington to attend the Liberal'conference. He then made a tour of the northern end of his electorate with' the Prime Afinistor’s party. He then proceeded to Auckland, and caught-the steamer for Tokonnru Bay, in order to attend the function in connection with the opening of the new AVaiapu bridge. H'e next delivered a nulilie address at AL-i----t.awai. and then returned to Opotiki to attend a number of engagements there. After these had been disposed’ of. he started off overland, .acrompanibd bv his daughter, Alisa Ella MaeiPonald, on the long and tiring ride to the East Coast. As n rev ion sly stated, lie addressed' a public meeting at Te Tvaha on Fridav night. It will come as good lien s to Air AlacDonald's many friends to hear that his condition yesjterdav was much improved, and that it is considered likelv that- be will be all right again in a day or so.
