Senior.-Sergt Hutton reported that the conduct of all licensed houses in the Gisborne Borough and Mak.araka had been good, no outside complaints having been received. Constable Maloney presented a favorable report on the hotels in the Pntutahi district. Regarding the Waerenga-a-liika hot-ol he referred to the recent cases arising out of the disturbance in front of the hotel. Constablo Maloney reported that with the exception of this occurrence, he had always found Mr Rigney a good licensee. Satisfactory reports were received from Kirby and Ton - regarding (lie hotels in the AYairoa district. Improvements were said to be required to the conveniences at the Marumaru, Frasertown, and Morere hotels. The enlargement of the latter premises was much appreciated. Mr Barton said that the police reports for the district were satisfactory. Regarding the AA r aerenga-a-hika hotel he had had complaint., in reference to the conduct of this house. He had also had two cases before him which showed that disgraceful conduct had occurred outside the hotel, and in which he was satisfied that the licensee was not altogether fr„ee from blame. If there was not some improvement in the future there would have to he a change of license. Such conduct could not be permitted. In " respect to tlio Marumaru hotel, the constable had reported the outside conveniences as being “fairly clean.” Something more than that was required. Such promises must he kept perfectly clean, and he would call on the constable to report on the matter further at next meeting. Reference was also made to the same maltter in connection with tlie Morere hotel. On His aAYorsbip’fi last, visit he was told matters would be remedied with the alterations that were going on. If that was not; so the constable would have to make a further report, but he had little doubt that the matetr would he attended to. Temporary transfers were approved of as follows: —George Brown Oman to George Alban Neill, British Empire Hotel; -Tames Henry Martin to George Brown Oman, Gisborne Hotel.
