CRICKET.
P.B. ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT committee: The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association was held last night. There were present: Messrs H. E. Hill (Chairman), J. T. Cahill, P. Allen, M. Guthrie, J. Moore. T. Williams, F. B. Pollard, W. J. Scholium, J. Charles, G. Webster, P. G. Andrew, Castle, E. W. Harvey, P. Sheridan, W. Gibson and W. Wood (hon. secretary). The hon. secretary intimated that he had received two subscriptions of £1 each towards the expenses of the Australian match. Donations towards the expenses of the match had also been received as follows : —W. Roderick 10s 6d, G. -Minnis 10s Gd, and sundry members of the Taraheru Club 14s.
Votes of thanks were recorded to all who had assisted the Association in preparing the ground, and the hon. secretary was instructed to convey these to the Mayor and Borough Council, th© Cook County Council, A. and P. Association, Gisborne Fire Brigade, Mr G. B. Oman, the gentlemen who lent cars for the.motor run on Sunday, and all who had assisted towards , entertaining the Australian team.
Complimentary reference was made by several delegates to the excellent manner in which Mr W. Wood, the hon. secretary, had attended to all details in connection with the big match. On the motion of Mr E. W. Harvey, .seconded by'Mr Hill, it was decided to record a vote of thanks to Mr Wood on the minutes. It was decided to issue a challenge to the Wanganui Cricket Association for the Lord Hawke Cup, and the hon. secretary was instructed to write to the Wanganui Association and the N.Z. Cricket Council asking for dates for the match. THIS WEEK’S FIXTURES. The following fixtures were drawn up for this week : —Thursday.-—-United v. Kia Kaha. Alhambra v. Gisborne. —Saturday.— Seniors. —Wanderers v. United, Childers Hoad or Taruheru. •Kia Kaha v. Alhambra, Victoria Domain. The High School Club applied for the use of the three pitches at Victoria Domain on Wednesdays for practices.- The request was granted. Mr Andrew and Mr Cahill were deputed to organise teams to pay visits to the East Coast and Motu at early dates.
