SIR EDWARD GREY’S BRUTAL PLAINNESS.
A WARNING TO THE DELEGATES

LONDON, May 28. At yesterday’s interview the Turkish delegates’ reply expressed willingness to sign the peace draft. _ Sir Edward Grey hinted at the possibility of Bulgaria and Turkey signing a separate peace draft. The Montenegrin delegate was not present at the interview. Some delegates are incensed at what they call Sir Edward Grey’s brutal plainness in informing them that if they cannot sign the Treaty there is no use them remaining in England. Several newspapers comment in complimentary terms of Sir Edward Grey’s ultimatum. There is a. general impression that Servia and Greece will sign the draft treaty*under pressure.

(Received May 29, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 29. The Greek delegates to the Peace Conference haye been authorised to sign the draft Treaty, and Servia is expected to sign simultaneously with all the others to-morrow.

(Received May 29, 11.30 p.m.) BELGRADE, May 29. M. Pasics, in the Skupstchiria, said the treaty witli Bulgaria was based on hypothesis, but even tin’s exceeded its scope. The Powers had annulled a vital clause and had forced Servia to abandon her outlet to the Adriatic and her Albanian territory earmarked as conquered. Therefore, Servia was entitled to compensation elsewhere, which Bulgaria had refused. Moreover, owing to the prolongation of the war, Bu’garia ashed and secured Servia’s help, including 50,000 men and part of her siege artillery to enable the capture of Adrianople. M. Basics emphasised that Servia was (in friendly terms with Bulgaria, and intends to maintain the alliance in years to come.
